Biography

Sheenah Hankin, is the author of Complete Confidence: A Handbook (ReganBooks/HarperCollins). She is much in demand by the media for her informed opinion, brilliantly witty comments and sound, sensible advice without one word of psychobabble. Sheenah has appeared on countless television and radio programs, and is quoted in newspapers and magazines in the U.S. and Europe.

Named one of New York’s “most popular psychotherapists” by The New York Times Magazine, Sheenah co developed Cognitive Appraisal Therapy with her husband, Dr. Richard Wessler. The tenets of this cutting edge system for dealing with difficult people were described in their book Succeeding with Difficult Clients (Academic Press), and in many other articles in books and journals for their profession. Sheenah has conducted numerous workshops in North America and Europe. Based on her expertise and experience in helping people to turn around their careers and businesses, she has recently begun to offer courses for the public based on her book Complete Confidence.

Born in England and now a proud American citizen, Sheenah received her graduate diploma in counseling from Aston University in Birmingham, and a Ph.D. from International University. She is a member of both the American Counseling Association and the Mental Health Counselors Association, and is listed in Who’s Who in America. She is the author of the final chapter in Howard Stern’s best-selling Private Parts, in which she profiles his controversial personality.

Sheenah has contributed to magazines: Allure, Elle, Mademoiselle, Marie Clare, New York, Self, Vogue, Redbook, Cosmo, Real Simple, Details, GQ, More, Ms, Womens’ World, and New York magazine; and in newspapers: New York Times, Daily News, Newsday, New York Post, and in the U.K., Daily Express Magazine and Daily Telegraph. Newsweek complemented her for her practical “get over it” advice.

Sheenah has been featured on Good Morning America, NBC’s Today Show,ABC’s 20/20, Entertainment Tonight, Maury, The O’Reilly Factor , NBC Today , and on Court TV, CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News Network, plus British, French and Russian television. She is a member of AFTRA.
